Mel’s Mission is a pediatric private practice dedicated to providing speech-language therapy services to children in Seneca, Illinois, and neighboring areas. We offer speech-language therapy to children of all ages from the comfort of your own home or through teletherapy. Each therapy session is tailored to meet the unique needs of every client, with a focus on involving caregivers in the process. We empower clients and caregivers by teaching them how to address communication needs in everyday routines, fostering continuous progress and development.


About the Owner
Melissa Decker is the driving force behind Mel's Mission. With nine years of experience as a licensed Speech-Language Pathologist, Melissa has worked in diverse settings, including schools, clinics, acute care facilities, and long-term care facilities. Melissa earned her Bachelor of Science in Communication Sciences and Disorders and her Master's Degree in Speech-Language Pathology from Illinois State University. She holds a Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA). She is licensed to practice speech-language pathology in Illinois.
Specializing in working with children of varying abilities, Melissa collaborates with families and professionals to customize therapy based on each child's strengths and interests. For the past three years, Melissa dedicated her expertise to serving as a school-based speech-language pathologist, gaining invaluable experience. Through this journey, Melissa recognized the need for more personalized, one-on-one treatment for children with speech and language delays, leading her to establish Mel's Mission. Melissa resides in Seneca, IL, with her husband and two children.

Do you accept insurance?Mel's Mission currently accepts BCBS PPO and private pay. We can provide you with a monthly superbill for reimbursement to submit to your insurance company.

How do I know if my child needs speech and language therapy?The best way to determine if your child needs therapy is to speak with a professional.An initial phone consultation will allow us to further determine whether or not a formal speech-language therapy evaluation is warranted.

What is the length and frequency of a therapy session?We will collaborate with you to determine the appropriate frequency and location of therapy to meet your child’s needs. Therapy is typically recommended once or twice weekly for 30-45 minute sessions.

Can you work with my child if they get speech therapy services at school?As long as your child is not currently receiving services from me directly at school, I can provide services to your child.

Can I attend my child’s therapy session?Absolutely! We believe parent/caregiver involvement is key to a successful therapy program. You are not required to participate in therapy sessions, but are more than welcome to join or sit in if you would like.
